About this site

Who we are

Ferndale Matters is run by local residents in Waterlooville. We are not part of Havant Borough Council, the applicant or any political party.

We set this site up because the documents for planning application APP/26/00065 are hard to find, hard to read and, in places, contradict each other. Our aim is to help neighbours understand what is proposed and take part in the decision.

How we write it

  • Every factual claim comes from a document on the council’s public planning file, and we link to it.
  • Where something is a question for the council rather than an established fact, we say so.
  • We refer to “the applicant” and “the agent” rather than naming individuals. This is about a planning application, not about people.
  • We do not speculate about who might live in the building.

Accessibility statement

We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In particular:

  • You can use every page with a keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
  • Text and controls meet AA colour contrast in both light and dark mode.
  • The site works at 400% zoom and on small screens without scrolling sideways.
  • Every page works without JavaScript. The letter builder, document filter and copy buttons are extras.
  • Charts have a text description and the same figures in a table.
  • Animation is switched off if your device asks for reduced motion.

Known limitations

The planning documents themselves are PDFs published by the council. Several, including the occupancy letter, are scanned images with no text, so a screen reader cannot read them. We have summarised what they say on this site. To ask the council for an accessible version, email planning.development@havant.gov.uk.

Privacy

This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, tracking or advertising. Our fonts are hosted on this site, so loading a page does not contact any third party.

The letter builder runs entirely in your browser. What you type there is never sent to us or stored anywhere. It only leaves your device if you copy it or open it in your email app and send it yourself.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.
